KILLING THE GIANTS
READ
“Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.”
1 Corinthians 11:1
When David faced off Goliath the odds didn’t look too promising. David was a young shepherd boy who like to sing but facing and conquering his giant was the catalyst to the course of his life changing to become Israel’s most beloved and famous king.
What giants do you have to face? Do you realize that these giants could be the catalyst to your life changing? David knew the source of his change didn’t lie within his own ability but with God when he boldly declared:
“You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand.”
1 Sam 17:45-46
David was not content to allow this giant to win; he was motivated to take him down, and he embraced the opportunity. Like David, if you put your trust and hope in the Lord as the source of your change and allow the redeeming blood of Jesus to cover you, the Holy Spirit will empower you to change and take down the giants that threaten to hold you ransom from your God-given destiny.
In the same way, the Apostle Paul always pointed people to Jesus as their source. The more like Jesus you become, the more your life will change for the better. The source of your change is in knowing Christ – go to His Word, and there you will find the keys to taking out those giants.
“To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”
Colossians 1:27
REFLECT
What giant is God asking you to stop tolerating—and what is one step you can take today to confront it?
PRAY
Lord, show me the giant I have been tolerating.
Father, open my eyes to the things that are standing between me and the destiny You have given me. Show me where I have become comfortable with what You are calling me to confront. Give me the courage to stop tolerating what is holding me back.
Jesus, be my source of change.
Lord, I confess that I cannot change myself through willpower alone. I choose to put my trust and hope in You. Let Your redeeming work transform me from the inside out, and teach me to depend on Christ rather than my own strength.
Holy Spirit, empower me to take action.
Holy Spirit, give me the courage to do what I already know I need to do. Where fear has kept me standing still, give me faith to move forward. Empower me to face my giants instead of running from them.
Lord, lead me to Your Word for the keys I need.
Father, create in me a hunger for Your Word. Help me stop looking everywhere else for the answers that can only be found in You. Show me the truth, wisdom, and promises I need to overcome the giants in my life.
Jesus, make me more like You.
Lord, I want “Christ in me” to become more than a Scripture I know—it is the hope of glory I live from. Change my thoughts, attitudes, choices, and actions until my life increasingly reflects. You. Today, help me identify one step I need to take and give me the courage to take it.
